HOW TO CHANGE A TIRE WITH SCISSORS JACK

Most of the scissors jacks  going to be found inside the trunk of the car .you  go ahead and open on this car the spare tire and the jack is found underneath this car in the trunk.

Here some tips on how to change a tire with the car’s jack .

1.How to use these tools in the car trunk

There’re a lot of cars  different so you may have to figure out just how all of this comes out ,mostly there just little spinner ,you’ll hold everything down so this just come off is kind of like a wing nut a little bracket and once that removed ,you  lift the tire out of that car.

Some of the other tools that you’re going to need to get out will be the tire iron and this is going to be what you used to break the lug nuts loose and then the scissors jack and these look they come in all different kinds of shapes and sizes.

Usually there’s some good instructions included in the car for it ,so the next step is to see if you have one of these in your car.

It’s a whee lock for the lug nuts ,it’s like an anti-theft thing some cars have them ,some don’t and you want to make you do have this if you have any locking lug nuts ,otherwise you won’t be able to get the lug nuts off from the car is to break the lug nuts loose ,if you don’t break them them loose right now ,as you lift the car up and you try to break the lug nuts loose .

It will just spin the wheel so you do not want to take the lug nuts all the way off .

You just want to break them loose to get them started so where you’ll take your tire iron and the lug nuts are taken off , it doesn’t matter you’ll just break this loose got a top of a turn and then you’ll just move on to all the other lug nuts . the next step to put the jack underneath the car and lift the wheel so that it’s just barely off the ground. This is the way how to use scissors jack.

2. How to operate them safely

If the scissors jack does not fit under the car ,you may have to loosen it down and so we’re just gonna turn this counterclockwise until the jack will fit under the car and sometimes they’re spread out a little bit to keep everything in place as it’s in the car.

So now coming underneath the car you gonna want to find a lift point sometimes you can lift on one of these.

Sometimes you can lift on one of these pinch welds and sometimes they have a little spot designated specifically for the scissors jack and you can find a little cutout so you’ll just slowly crank this handle clockwise until it starts to go up to that part of the frame turning it clockwise rotation and this will slowly lift the front wheel off the car you really want to make sure that you’re on level ground .

If you’re on the side of the road and this is happening and it can be very dangerous for the cars on an angle .Because you wants all the pressures on this scissors jack ,it can tip over so you want to make sure the car is on the best level and solid ground as possible so you really don’t have to get it too high off the ground.

Those tire is now off the ground ,we’re gonna go just a little bit higher to get you some more room.Make sure that the scissors jack is still solid and in the right spot here’s our replacement wheel.so now you can want to go around and take off the rest of these like that just unscrew them by hand if you can’t reach them where there’s still too hard and put the bar back on them and turn them .

Remember:

you’re coming these like that,so you don’t lose any some cars when we have four lug nuts and sometimes you have 6 or even 8 so it really depends and if you are like that for not exposed because they’re behind a hub cap then you may need to take the bar here and get behind it and pop the hub cap off in order to expose the lug nuts .

There also some wheels that have fake lug nuts that actually go over the real lug nuts and you have to loosen those .In order to get the hub cap off.

So with all the lug nuts removed,we’re just gonna pull this wheel completely off with the car inside of the side now bring up your spare tire and line it all up the best you can you might get a little bit dirt dirty doing this .but sometimes it’s best just to sit square on there but so once you have it .

• You want to apply pressure and trying to keep it as flat as.
• you can then spread the lug nuts back on as soon as.
• And get it snug with two lug nuts and opposite side.

you can move your hand and put the rest of them on now for one of the most important parts make sure that when you tighten these down that you do what called the star pattern.

Probably,

you won’t have a torque wrench on hand so you just want to tighten another ,get it in snug until you feel the lug nut pretty much stop and you can bounce it a few times and that’s how you know it’s on there pretty tight.

You just don’t over-tighten them and break them but at the same time make sure that they’re on there good and snug so once you have the leg that’s on pretty tight .and then if you have somebody who can help you sit in the car and hold the breakdown then you can tighten these up really good.

If you are all alone ,there’s another way that you can do this and that’s just lower the jack until the wheel is just barely touching the ground and you don’t want to lower the car all the way you want to lower it until the wheels touching the ground in it and it won’t move,so if it’s barely touching the ground and won’t move then you can get on here and tighten these down again you can get quite a bit more done to it .

3.The last step to remove your jack

Lower it all the way to the ground. Then just remove your jack can put everything in the trunk and hopefully.

so that’s basically how you could change a tire on the side of the road you would.

Then just lower the jack by going in the counterclockwise postion and set it back on the ground now make sure you do not go very fast on these as they call these 50 miles sometimes they call them 50 or 80 miles .

Because that’s all they’re really good for but don’t go very fast and make sure that you get back to a shop as soon as you can .
